Freedom of expression in peril?

On the 22nd of September I participated in a debate on the disputed issue of freedom of expression together with Knut Olav Åmås (Director of the Norwegian Fritt Ord Foundation), Kjersti Løken Stavrum (Secretary-General of the Norwegian Press Association) and Henrik Syse who is a philosopher affiliated with PRIO (the Peace Research Institute Oslo). The question was raised as to whether the freedom of expression has been stymied for the benefit of national security in times of increased radicalism and extremism. And what are the limits of the freedom of expression in the sense of the responsibility and obligations that individuals incur when taking part in public debate?

The debate was initiated by PRIO and the research project Negotiating Values: Collective Identities and Resilience after 22/7 (NECORE)
